Think of your body like a tower of blocks. To keep the tower from falling, the weight of the blocks must stay directly over the base.
The Red Dot (Center of Mass) is where your body's weight is focused. The blue Force Plate (Base of Support) is the "safety zone" on the floor.
The Fixed Plumb Line represents gravity. It never moves. In clinical practice, we use this to see how far your body moves away from a straight vertical line.
To stay balanced during movement, you must use a strategy that keeps the Red Dot inside the Blue Plate. This can be done by changing how you stand or how you move your body.
Observation: Before starting a trial, use the sliders to see how the Red Dot moves relative to the blue plate boundaries.
Goal: Determine how COM affects stability during an anterior task.
Setup (must be completed before strategy selection):
Incorrect strategies result in a stability breach with an explanation.
Goal: Determine how adjusting BOS during lateral loading helps to maintain stability.
Setup (must be completed before strategy selection):
Incorrect strategies explain why lateral stability fails.
